“Based on a True Story…” Sure to be Summer Hit

Blake Shelton’s latest album, Based on a True Story…, is the seventh album in just over a decade that the country star and “Voice” coach has released. The majority of the tracks have the potential to be chart-toppers. His semi-newfound stardom was catapulted by his position as a coach on “The Voice,” and this new album lives up to the expectations of his adoring fans.

“Based on a True Story”is composed of several different sounds among the many songs, such as some soft ballads and others with a more rock and roll edge. The ballads on the album are beautifully composed, “Do You Remember” and “Mine Would Be With You” being the more popular of tracks.
In 2011, Shelton released his album “Red River Blue,” which contained tracks that many people many people deemed more conservative. At the time, critics believed that he was attempting to take a step back from the spotlight; however, he made sure to prove that he was doing quite the opposite, as a more wild side is shown on the most recent release. The album exhibits this new personality with wild songs such as “I Still Got a Finger” and “Small Town Big Time” — a track that has potential to be a summertime hit with a roll-down-the-windows feel.
Shelton’s new album is reminiscent of his past album “All About Tonight,” which he released in 2010. Both albums feature a variety of country music and received reviews from critics who raved about his music. “Based on a True Story” successfully recreates the old Blake Shelton that thousands of adoring fans have grown to love.
The album’s first single that was released is “Sure Be Cool if You Did,” which the country star premiered on New Years Day this year. Fans responded well to the new record, and it quickly hit the top of the charts. Shelton went on to release the second single from the album, “Boys ‘Round Here.” The track has almost a hip-hop type feel that appeals to a broad audience.
