Students took the stage beyond McIntosh’s theatre program to participate in a production of Legally Blonde Jr. at the Legacy Theatre. Legally Blonde Jr. brought music, dance and humor to the stage in a version designed for student performers. From March 19-22, Legacy Theatre gave young rising stars a chance to hit the big stage, while also managing preparation for the school’s production of Chicago which took place March 26-28.
This production at Legacy Theatre brought together student performers from across the area, giving them a chance to collaborate with peers outside of the school community. For freshman Noah Cannon, this was not his first time with this crowd.
“Legally Blonde was a performance at the Legacy Theatre, where I played Emmett Forrest. It was an awesome performance, and a great experience for me. It is my eleventh show at that theater, and I hope to do many more,” Cannon said.
Inspired by the theatre’s dynamic environment and its tradition of successful production, freshman Sarah Loridas joined the cast of Legally Blonde Jr. alongside doing Chicago for the school.
“I wanted to be a part of Legally Blonde Jr. because of the fun productions Legacy has had in the past and the great community it is. I did have to prepare differently for each production since I had to dance much more in Chicago and had to remember more choreography,” Loridas said.
For Senior Chloe Groh, the preparation process was much more tedious for Chicago than Legally Blonde Jr.
“Legacy overall is a lot less stressful [than Chicago]. With McIntosh theater, you often have to get your own costume and figure out your own blocking but at Legacy you don’t have to worry about that,” Groh said.
Legacy Theatre has already held their auditions for their summer production of Frozen, but they will have various casts performing from July 1 to Aug. 2.
