Hashtags: Everything in social media

Categories:

You’re on your phone, right? Let’s talk about what has happened on social media this week. So grab a snack and a drink and get ready for this one.

My hot take on this week’s hashtags? The use of AI has gotten out of hand. The creation of Fruit Love Island by the creator on TikTok, @ai.cinema021, has become popular with the account hitting almost 2.5 million followers in the past week.

In these episodes, a series of different fruits recreate season six of the American show Love Island, even having a link in the bio to vote for new contestants and couples to be together, copying the original show. Yesterday, the 15th episode came out which now has 1.4 million likes, 222 thousand comments, 190 thousand favorites, and 198 thousand shares. Although it is a funny and creative idea for entertainment, you have to think about the environmental issues it is also causing to the world, such as massive energy and water consumption of data centers, leading to pollution. According to Earth.org, the training and development of the AI system requires a tremendous amount of energy, resulting in significant environmental costs that are often overlooked. Next time you tune in for another episode, just keep in mind how this one minute TikTok can affect your future.

Well now that the serious topic is done let’s get into the fun stuff. So everyone has heard that 2026 is the new 2016, right? Well on TikTok a new trend named “2026 is the new 2016” has become popular with even hit influencers and famous people doing it. The trend includes a famous sound called Cheerleader by OMI with the filter Rio De Janeiro. In the video there is a compilation of photos from the 2016 era. I think this is a cute trend and you should definitely check it out.

I hate to turn the subject again, but let’s talk about all the chaos happening at the Hybe building and their contract to the group, ENHYPEN. So we’ve all seen the announcement or at least TikToks about the sudden dismemberment of Heeseung from the K-pop group ENHYPEN. Well, let’s just say the fans didn’t take it well. Sending over 60 protest trucks outside the Hybe building, getting above 2 million signatures on a petition to bring him back to the group, and even having physical protests from fans outside of the building. All over social media there are fans posting TikToks promoting the return of Heeseung to the group using hashtags such as: #Heeseung ~ 1.7 million videos, #Ot7 ~ 1 million videos, #ENHYPENis7 ~ 40 thousand videos, #BringHeeseungBack ~ 20 thousand videos, #ProtectHeeseung ~15 thousand videos, #HeeseungSolo ~ 10 thousand videos. Even though this happened on Mar. 10, it is still a hot topic over all social media platforms and I think for a good reason.

Now Follow This: My favorite creator from my FYP this week has to be @realkatieb. Katie B is a content creator and streamer known for her humor, relatable personality, and entertaining live reactions. Her streams stand out to me because of her natural comedic timing and the way she turns everyday moments into something funny, making it easy for me to feel connected and laugh along with her while I watch her. Even if you aren’t into watching streams, you should definitely still check out her TikTok for her funny content.
