Math team is a club where students learn to solve complex equations and use problem solving strategies against other teams in a competition against other schools. The McIntosh High School Math Team has placed first in division III (large schools) in the regional competition, the second level of competition between school and state, for the fifth consecutive year in a row. They achieved this at the Griffin Regional Educational Service Agency (RESA) Regional High School Math Contest on Jan. 28. The contest is a regional competition between high schools in Butts, Fayette, Henry, Lamar, Newton, Pike, Spalding and Upson county.
The McIntosh math team consists of the senior Minju Kim, senior Anakin Park, senior Andrew Deng, junior Andrew Lee and senior Luke DellaTorre. Minju Kim placed second overall individually within the competition.
“We took a great team and got great results,” McIntosh math teacher and math team coach, Christopher Flournoy said.
