Your donation supports the student journalists of McIntosh High School. Your contribution allows us to cover our annual website hosting costs, to have access to Reuters images for international and national news and feature stories, to purchase more and updated equipment such as cameras, lenses, and digital voice recorders, and continuing education for staff, such as SNO training and MediaNow! editorial leadership training.

Drew Pitts, Staff
Drew Pitts, a freshman from the seafood state of Louisiana, is hardworking and reliable. He is an aspiring videographer and creator who is currently in his first year on the Trail. Drew is a very out-of-the-box thinker, coming up with a conventional solution to any problem that comes his way.
When not working his hardest at McIntosh, he is looking for new ideas and spending valuable time with family and friends. His approach to life is to fulfill it the best he can and never waste time that could be spent creating.
Phoenix Dixon, Staff
Phoenix Dixon, is currently a sophomore at McIntosh High School, and a first-year member of the Trail.
Recently transferred from Konos Academy and has eager plans of finding his place and pursuing a path that aligns with his interests. Originally from California, Dixon has attended seven different schools skipping fourth grade along the way.
He was on the varsity tennis team for Northgate and has been involved in the sport for three years. He also has a one-year-old sister and loves socializing at any time given.
Dixon is looking to use any given opportunities to his advantage and create a successful future for himself. He is determined to learn and grow from all the experiences he will have during his high school journey.
Cari Heinonen, Staff
Cari Heinonen is a sophomore at McIntosh and this is her second year on the Trail Staff. She plans to focus on photography and writing. Heinonen enjoys listening to music and writing poetry in her free time. Heinonen is a part of the Fashion Club, Animal Care Organization, HOSA, and the Envirothon. Heinonen also holds a job at Chick-Fil-A.
Jozlynn Smith, Staff
Smith is a two year veteran on the McIntosh Trail. She is a sophomore and is also serving her first year on the McIntosh varsity cheer squad. She wants to focus on getting the truth out for others to read and relate to. Smith wants her stories to give people the enlightenment of their peers, and give people the spotlight they deserve. Smith believes that everyone is a story.
In 2023, Smith joined an international writing competition and came in the top 10 of all the people in her state. She wrote an outstanding essay, giving an insight of the book she was assigned. Placing in the top 10 in her state, Smith received an award that is hung up where everyone can see at her grandparents house. Smith has recently received a Best of SNO for her story Deer Season.
Smith is very passionate about writing and doing things she loves. She hopes to bring joy to her readers and write stories that inspire everyone.
Connor Lafontant, Sports Editor
Connor Lafontant is a Junior at McIntosh, in his third year on the Trail staff, which earned a Distinguished Site Badge for the second consecutive time. He covers sports and international stories. A multi-sport athlete, Connor runs track, wrestles, and played soccer in Peachtree City.
He also played trombone for three years and is on the honor roll. Outside school, he’s a student pilot at Horizon Aviation, aiming for a career in airlines. Connor volunteers at homeless shelters, providing over 14,000 pounds of food and essentials, and helped distribute COVID vaccines to over 1,000 people. He enjoys traveling and working out, but values helping others most.
Gabriel Adams, Staff
Gabriel Adams is a Junior at Mcintosh and a new addition to The Trail’s staff. Adams competed in The Law’s Of Life event and he has future plans to achieve the world title in the UFC (Ultimate Fighter Championship).
Until then he practices Muay Thai, reads, mountain bikes and hangs out with friends. His approach to Journalism is both insightful and straightforward. His desire is to keep informed of the events that impact our way of life. He was one of the staff members who won a best of SNO.
