On Sept. 3, the Lady Chiefs softball team had a home game against Pike County. Pike County won with a final score of 17-4.
Junior Drew Williamson plays right field for the team and despite the loss, felt the team had its high points.
“I feel like our defense was definitely a lot better this game and [during] the last inning, we definitely tried to come back a little bit, so that was better than it ending to nothing,” Williamson said.
The players took this game as another opportunity to grow and work to improve for upcoming games.
“My big takeaway is to learn from my mistakes [and] make sure to go harder at it every time,” Williamson said.
Senior Braley Roop is another player who sees the team’s potential for wins. Roop plays second base for the Lady Chiefs.
“Defensively, we could do a little better, but overall, we did a lot better than last game. We came back better, and [our] hitting was really good. Last inning, we kind of fought back a little and came together,” Roop said.
No matter what, one thing is constant for the Lady Chiefs.
“We always stay positive,” Williamson said.
The Lady Chiefs play tonight against Banneker at 6 p.m.
