Student Athlete of the Week – October 22, 2012

Senior Breana Jones has been chosen as Athlete of the Week for the week of October 22, 2012.

Breana began playing volleyball in 7th grade at J.C. Booth Middle School. Since then, she has played at McIntosh all four years: JV her first two; varsity her last two. She has also played for both Tsunami and Atlanta Crush.

Balancing athletics and academics can be challenging, but Jones says that she gets her work done. “Homework is always done to and from practice, and sometimes during my practice,” Jones said.

When asked who has influenced her volleyball career the most, Breana said that it was her coaches, Wendy, Meredith, and Kelly. She said, “My coaches try not only to teach us volleyball, but also life lessons.” Breana said that the craziest thing a coach has ever made her do was 50 suicides in 10 minutes.

Breana said that her favorite volleyball memory is the first time she got looked at by a coach. She said, “I had over 100 school [looking at me] at one time!” She ended up choosing the University of Arkansas.

Breana’s plans for the future include attending the University of Arkansas on her volleyball scholarship and majoring in elementary education. She plans to become a teacher and return to Peachtree City.
