The McIntosh football team hosted the Pike County Pirates in a preseason scrimmage on Thursday August 11. This was the first time that local fans had a chance to see the quality of this year’s football team.

During the first half, the Chiefs scored a touchdown. The Pirates scored two before the end of the half, leaving the score at 14-7 going into halftime.

Although the Chiefs were down by 7 going into the second half, they scored quickly, evening the scoreboard. By the fourth quarter, second and third string players were on the field. This gave younger players, such as freshmen and sophomores, the opportunity to show their skills to their coaches. The Pirates scored again, tying up the game for the second time. The final score was a tie, 21-21.

The defensive coordinator, Mr. James Fleckenstein said, “Our team did a good job getting to the football. Our focuses now are on games to come and getting ourselves prepared.”
