On Friday, Sep. 6, the McIntosh Chiefs lost their first road game of the season against the McDonough Warhawks, 33-32. Here are three notes from the contest.

  1. Back and forth contest

This was an extremely closely contested game. The game was tied after one quarter and was only a four-point game at halftime. It came right down to the wire with the Chiefs falling by only one point.

2. Punt return TD

In the first quarter, Chiefs running back Dominick Cosper returned a McDonough punt for a 48-yard touchdown, the first score of the game for either team. It was an electrifying play and one of the main highlights of the evening.

3. 58-yard touchdown pass

Trailing in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs made their biggest play of the game when quarterback Hayes Herzog connected with receiver Andrew Villiger for a 58-yard touchdown pass. However, McIntosh would miss the extra point, leaving McDonough up 33-32, which would go on to be the final score of the game.

The Chiefs next take the field this Friday at Luella.
