After a relatively slow month for music in February, some of the most popular artists around today will release their next album this March. There is something for nearly everybody, including OneRepublic’s Pop/Rock music, The Strokes’ Indie Rock sound, and Lil Wayne’s raps.
“Native” will be OneRepublic’s third studio album and their first since the well-received 2009 album “Waking Up.” Originally planned with a November 2012 release date in mind, the band had to postpone the album as it “has to literally be the best thing we’ve done.” The two singles currently off the album, “Feel Again” and “If I Lose Myself,” have both been out for at least two months, so fans have been given a taste of what’s to come on March 22. The album holds 12 songs and has a total run time of 46 minutes.
Almost exactly two years after the release of their last album, “Angles,” The Strokes will come out with their fifth studio album titled “Comedown Machine.” Most famous for their music in the early 2000s, this is only the Indie Rock band’s second album since 2006. Their only single to come off the album, “All the Time,” has received mixed reviews with some critics saying that the band will never be able to replicate the success their 2001 album “Is This It” but it will give fans something to listen to while they wait for The Strokes’ next commercially successful album that may or may not come. “Comedown Machine” is released on March 26.
Also releasing on March 26 is “I Am Not a Human Being II,” the tenth studio album by Lil Wayne. Previously regarded as one of the genre’s best, fans of the rapper have noticed a decline in his work of late. The newest album contains multiple guest artists including, to no one’s surprise, Nicki Minaj, Drake, and 2 Chainz. Lil Wayne’s album may not be on par with his earlier work, but his dedication to putting out albums for the fans that have stayed with him throughout the years is nothing but respectable.
