Mumford and Sons, a popular English folk rock band, has recently released their sophomore studio album, “Babel.” This album was long awaited by their fan base, as their previous album entitled “Sigh No More” was last released three years ago. “Sigh No More” took Mumford and Sons from just another unknown band to rocking the top of the music charts. Some well known songs on their last album are “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave”. “Babel” came out on Sept. 25 in the United States.
“Babel” is expected to sell over 600,000 copies by the end of the tracking week, according to Billboard. Predicted by its debut sales, the alternative folk album is supposed to be a bigger hit than the recent 2012 music releases by Justin Bieber, Madonna and Pink.
Written on the road during two years’ worth of touring, the songs on “Babel” feature deep, soulful lyrics about life. Recording for 18 months at four separate studios, the band reunited with Coldplay’s producer Markus Dravs.
The band’s members include lead singer Marcus Mumford, Ben Lovett, Winston Marshall, and Ted Dwanye. Mumford and Sons has recently performed on Saturday Night Live and at the iTunes Festival.
“I Will Wait” is considerably the most popular song on “Babel”. Some reviewers claim that they don’t like the album because it sounds “too different” from the last, but Mumford and Sons is experimenting with their music and evolving with maturity. They are building on the originalsound that they have created.
“Mumford and Sons new album has potential to being one of the best albums out this year,” said chorus member Tre Stacks. “My favorite songs are ‘I Will Wait’ and ‘Little Mountain Lion.’”
Mumford and Sons has also released a bonus track, which includes three extra songs “For Those Below,” “The Boxer,” and “Where Are You Now.”
Though the last time Mumford and Sons performed in Georgia was two years ago, fans can expect to see this band making its way back to the United States.
