Construction at McIntosh High School is causing more than just noise—it’s shaking up the entire learning experience for students and teachers near the Math and English hallway.
“I was trying to take a math test, and my desk literally rattled,” Eathon LeVan (9) said. “It felt like a small earthquake,”
Crews are currently working on multiple tennis courts and a new multipurpose room just outside the Math and English wing. While students and staff understand the need for new facilities, the constant rumbling has raised concerns about learning disruptions.
“It’s hard to focus when your chair is vibrating every few minutes,” said Statistics teacher, Mr. Rafter. “We’ve had to pause lessons during the loudest moments,”
Despite the challenges, some students say the construction is necessary for long-term improvement.
“I get that it’s annoying now, but we’re going to have new facilities that everyone can use,” said Jonathan Morgan (11). “It’ll be worth it in the long run, especially for sports and school events,”
The construction is expected to continue through the school year, with major progress projected by late spring.
