Rudy Giuliani found in contempt of court
On Jan. 6, 2025, U.S. District Judge Lewis Liman in Manhattan found Rudy Giuliani, who served as the former United States Associate Attorney General from 1981 to 1983 and the United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York from 1983 to 1989, to be in civil contempt of court in a case that was brought by two Georgia election workers accusing Giuliani of trying to help steal the 2020 U.S. presidential election for former U.S. President Joe Biden.
Judy Giuliani was found in contempt of court for failing to properly respond to requests for information as he turned over assets to satisfy a $148 million deflation judgment granted to two Georgia election workers, Ruby Freeman and her daughter Wandrea Moss.
In July of 2023, Giuliani conceded that he made defamatory statements about Freeman and Moss.
Rudy Freeman and Wandrea Moss accused the former personal lawyer to Republican President-elect Donald Trump of “destroying their reputations by lying that they tried to help steal the 2020 election.” according to Reuters.
Giuliani has been disbarred for making false claims about the 2020 election and has pleaded not guilty to criminal charges in Georgia and Arizona.
