The release dates for two new Apple products, the iPhone 6 and the Apple Watch, were announced this week. The iPhone 6 is set to arrive on shelves by September 19 and is available for preorder on September 12. This new iPhone will come in two variants: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus.  Meanwhile, The Apple Watch’s release date is estimated to be in early 2015, but the official date has not yet been declared.

As far as design is concerned, the iPhone 6 and 6 plus are fairly similar to previous generations of iPhones.  However, the phones differ in size and shape. Both of the new iPhones are thinner with rounded edges and larger screens. The iPhone 6 is said by Apple to be 4.7 inches and the iPhone 6 Plus is 5.5 inches. Both phones have color options of Gold, Silver and Space Grey and are offered with capacities of 16 GB, 64 GB or 128 GB.

Apple has provided its newest output with improvements to old technologies and added new technologies. Both phones offer camera improvements, including a 240 frames per second slow motion capture rate. However, some of the additions only apply to one or the other, such as the optical image stabilizing that is specific to the iPhone 6 Plus.

When asked about the new iPhone, Junior Jackson Post said, “It looks kind of ugly. I don’t like it. I think the iPhone 5 was about as big as it needed to get.”

Junior Mikayla Denison agreed and said, “I just think it’s too big! I feel like it wouldn’t even fit in your pocket.”

The Apple Watch comes in different collections that match the wearers’ different styles. The different watch types can fit with professional attire, sport activities and personal fashion. There is a customizable version of the watch, called “The Edition” that includes 18-karat gold in the design. The sport style is lightweight and available in five colors. It also calculates the heart-rate of the wearer, along with monitoring weather conditions, calories burned and time spent exercising.
