According to the U.S. Department of Energy, the National Science Bowl is a nationwide academic competition that tests students’ knowledge in all areas of science and mathematics. Teams from diverse backgrounds have four students, one alternate and a teacher who serves as an advisor and coach. These teams face-off in a fast-paced question-and-answer format, and are tested on a range of science disciplines including biology, chemistry, earth science, physics, energy and math.
The MHS National Science Bowl team competed at regionals on Saturday, 2/7 at Carrollton High School. The following students placed second overall (4-1) behind Westminster.

“We will be moving on to the state competition on [March 6] at UWG [University of West Georgia]” McIntosh National Science Bowl supervisor Chris Flournoy said.
