Filled with classic Christmas songs and some fresh new takes, the 2024 TrailMIX holiday playlist has something for everyone. Just like past TrailMix playlists, this one includes music suggestions from both staff and students, making it a fun, collaborative mix.
“It’s the best when Christmas music starts playing—it just makes everything feel so festive,” Ryland McAfee (11) said. “I picked songs that remind me of spending time with my family, so there are a lot of classic tunes.”
The playlist has a good mix of everything, from the old-school Christmas songs to newer pop versions, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Landan Barteski (11) adds, “This playlist is awesome because it has both the upbeat, fun songs and the slower, chill ones. It’s the perfect vibe for the holidays.”
You’ll find upbeat hits like Mariah Carey’s All I Want for Christmas Is You alongside slower songs like Sufjan Stevens’ Christmas in the Room. No matter how you’re celebrating, TrailMix: Holiday Edition has you covered. The playlist also includes some newer takes on holiday songs. John Legend’s Happy Christmas (War Is Over) and Phoebe Bridgers’ Christmas Song bring something different to the table.
“Phoebe’s version of ‘Christmas Song’ is a little sad but still beautiful,” Barteski said. “It’s perfect for when you need a break from all the happy Christmas music.”
The mix of genres is what makes this playlist stand out.
“We wanted to make sure there’s something for everyone,” Gabriel Adams (10), a McIntosh Trail staff member said. “There are everything from classic rock Christmas covers to indie and pop songs.”
If you’re into indie music, you’ll like Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses, while fans of traditional Christmas songs can enjoy Bing Crosby’s White Christmas or Nat King Cole’s The Christmas Song.
TrailMix: Holiday Edition is the perfect way to unwind after exams and get ready for winter break.
“The holidays are all about bringing people together, and music does the same thing,” Cooper Willis (11) says. “It’s fun seeing what everyone adds to the playlist and hearing their holiday favorites.”
Whether you’re finishing up school, spending time with family, or just hanging out with friends, this playlist has everything you need to get into the holiday mood. And with more seasonal playlists on the way, McIntosh Trail is making sure the festive vibes stick around all winter long.
