Senior Alejandro Lopez is the striker on the Mcintosh varsity soccer team. Even though he has only been on the team for one year, the sport has been a part of his life for much longer. Before joining the school team, Lopez spent years playing soccer outside of school.Growing up around the sport, helped him develop his skills and understanding of the game before competing at the high school level.
Lopez said his interest in soccer began when he was very young because of his father, who also played the sport and encouraged him to start playing.
After years of playing soccer growing up, Lopez joined the McIntosh soccer program and began competing with the team during the current 2025/2026 sports season. According to Lopez, one of the things he enjoys most about being part of the team is the environment created by the players.
“Definitely the atmosphere. I love all my teammates. It’s super fun and everything’s going so well,” Lopez said.
Playing on the team has also created several memorable moments throughout the season. Lopez said one moment that stands out to him happened during his first match with McIntosh.
“My first match… I scored,” Lopez said.
Lopez said experiences like that are part of what makes playing soccer with the team meaningful. He also said that his teammates help motivate him throughout the season.
“My teammates always push me to be the best version of myself,” Lopez said.
Lopez said playing soccer at McIntosh requires effort and commitment from players who want to compete at that level. For younger players who hope to join the program in the future, he said working hard is important.
“Work hard, because it is very hard,” Lopez said.
