The McIntosh XC season kicked off on Aug. 21 as the McIntosh XC girls’ and boys’ runners competed in the Mercy Invitational. The meet was hosted by Our Lady of Mercy High School in Fayetteville, Georgia. There were 12 teams that competed in the meet.
The McIntosh XC varsity girls’ and boys’ teams placed second. McIntosh XC boys’ junior varsity runner and team captain, Caleb Kreitner, placed fourth for his individual time of 17 minutes and 46 seconds. McIntosh XC boys’ sophomore varsity runner, Landon Clisham, placed fifth for his individual time of 17 minutes and 49 seconds.
“I felt great about placing second,” said McIntosh XC boys’ senior varsity runner and team captain Alistair Plotnick. “It was a big accomplishment for us.”
The second McIntosh XC meet of the season took place on Aug. 28 as the Mcintosh XC girls’ and boys’ runners competed in the Bob Blastow Invitational. The meet was hosted by Alexander High School at the McIntosh Nature Preserve in Whitesburg, Georgia. There were 66 teams that competed in the meet. McIntosh XC sophomore varsity girls’ runner, Noelle Sullivan, placed 10th for her individual time of 20 minutes and 10 seconds. McIntosh XC boys’ junior varsity runner and team captain, Caleb Kreitner, placed fourth for his individual time of 16 minutes and 42 seconds.
“Almost every one of them set a new personal record,” said McIntosh XC boys’ coach Rob Kramlich. “Hard work breeds success, and as long as they put in the effort throughout the season, they will continue to get faster.”
The third McIntosh XC meet of the season took place on Sept. 4 as the Mcintosh XC girls’ and boys’ runners competed in the AT&T Starr’s Mill Panther XC Meet 2021. The meet was hosted by Starr’s Mill High School at the Heritage Christian Church XC Course in Fayetteville, Georgia. McIntosh XC senior varsity girls’ runner and team captain, Paris Alsup, placed 30th for her individual time of 20 minutes and 26 seconds. McIntosh XC boys’ junior varsity runner and team captain, Caleb Kreitner, placed 37th for his individual time of 16 minutes and 55 seconds.
The fourth McIntosh XC meet of the season took place on Sept. 11 as the Mcintosh XC girls’ and boys’ runners competed in the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational 2021. The meet was hosted by Carrollton High School at the State Meet Course in Carrollton, Georgia. There were 98 teams that competed in the meet. McIntosh XC freshmen varsity girls’ runner, Kirsten Rose, placed 9th for her individual time of 21 minutes and 22 seconds. McIntosh XC boys’ junior varsity runner and team captain, Caleb Kreitner, placed 4th for his individual time of 17 minutes and 29 seconds.
“The girls did great and are working hard during practices to continue to get their times down,” said McIntosh XC girls’ coach Jennifer Kramlich.
The fourth McIntosh XC meet of the season took place on Sept. 18 as the Mcintosh XC girls’ and boys’ runners competed in the Fowlkes Memorial Invitational 2021. The meet was hosted by Decatur High School at Legacy Park in Decatur, Georgia. There were 19 teams that competed in the meet. McIntosh XC senior varsity girls’ runner, Paris Alsup, placed 9th for her individual time of 21 minutes and 38 seconds. McIntosh XC boys’ junior varsity runner and team captain, Caleb Kreitner, placed 4th for his individual time of 17 minutes and 24 seconds. The next meet will be the Alexander / Asics Invitational 2021 held on Oct. 2 at Chattahoochee Hills Eventing in Fairburn, Georgia hosted by Alexander High School with one meet away from Region 1 AAAAA 2021.
“The light of the future for MHS cross country is coming and coming fast,” said McIntosh XC boys’ sophomore varsity runner Landon Clisham. “Look out fast were coming for one of those rings.”
