On Tuesday, Jan. 14, the McIntosh Chiefs basketball team took on the Whitewater Wildcats in a home contest and lost by a final score of 48-40. McIntosh now sits at 10-7 overall and 3-4 in the region.

While both teams struggled offensively out of the gate, the Wildcats were able to eventually separate themselves and build a double-digit lead behind the play of point guard Javon Jenkins, who capped off a 12 point first quarter with a buzzer-beating three off the glass to the astonishment of the Chiefs student section.

The Chiefs were able to claw their way back in the game late with a run spearheaded by guard Cam Lyons; however, despite having multiple chances to tie the game, the Wildcats eventually pulled away with some clutch free-throw shooting and won by a score of 48-40.

The Chiefs will need to regroup quickly as they have a road contest against the rival Starr’s Mill Panthers this Friday.
