Volleyball team wins third consecutive state championship

The Lady Chiefs defeated Whitewater in three straight sets to win their third consecutive State Championship at Marietta on Nov. 2. 

“I am so happy to get the opportunity to play with these girls,” said senior Kendall Moore. “There is no better way for my McIntosh volleyball career to end.”

The team competed against Thomas County Central High School in the first round of state playoffs at home on Oct. 19. They defeated them three sets to zero before moving on to compete against East Paulding High School on Oct. 22. They defeated them three sets to zero as well. 

During their first travel game of the state playoffs, the team travelled to Riverwood High School on Oct. 26. Defeating them three to zero as well, the girls continued in the playoffs to compete in the final four. 

During their final four game, the girls travelled to Buford High School on Oct. 29. The girls gained their third consecutive shutout, beating them three sets to zero, buying themselves a ticket to the state championship.

Senior Jessie Doyal has been a part of all three state championship winning teams. She is committed to play volleyball for Davidson College in North Carolina in the Fall. “Getting three state rings has been an amazing high school experience,” said Doyal. “The successful seasons brought me so close and helped me to form unforgettable memories with my teammates throughout the years.”
