The 11 annual Powder Puff game was on Wednesday, Sep. 25 and turned out to be a night many won’t forget. In the early stages of the first half the seniors were looking sharp leading 13-6, but the juniors had other plans, both sides offense and defense were locked in and not willing to let this game go tying it up 13-13 at half.

While the game was intense and had everyone on the edge of their seats, the Powder Puff cheerleader’s halftime performance was perfect for lightening the mood. After the performance, senior  Nick Lankau was announced as Mr. Powder Puff and received the crown.

The second half kicked off and the juniors took an early lead of 19-25, but the seniors battled back and went up 32-26 with about 8 minutes left in the game.

With about 4 minutes left in the game seniors went up 33-32. The senior defense stepped up and managed to force a turnover on downs and give the offense the ball with about 30 seconds left, but they couldn’t run out the clock leaving the juniors about 20 yards out and 4.8 seconds left on the clock. The last play of the game the ball was delivered to junior Cami Salaski who ran it in for the game winning touchdown and for the first time in a long time the senior class was defeated.

“My expectations were not met,” said senior Mackenzie Rose. “I think our team played really well but I didn’t really like how it wasn’t rigged since it’s a tradition for the seniors to win, it was disappointing for sure.”

“It felt amazing” said junior Samantha Birmingham. “Being able to show the seniors off and take home a win for the juniors was awesome.”
