Government succeeds in overstepping boundaries

With all of the recent events that have happened, many are angry or resentful towards our current government. They, however, have reason to feel this way because the current government has overstepped their allotted boundaries. They have managed to overstep the boundaries by taking over the social media, attempting to control school life across the country and by creating a form of health-care, which places the form of our national government into a system similar to socialism.

Over the past four years, the Obama family has taken over social media.  We see them too much.  This infringement is not just Mr. President, however. The First Lady, Michelle Obama, continues to overuse her power to appear on a whole plethora of social venues, like the Oscar presentations and many shows like “iCarly,” “Ellen,” “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon,” and “Sesame Street.” It is clear that her main intention is to be seen.

However, the media itself  is to also blame for this massive takeover. If news stations had not covered them as much as they had and had not made such a big deal about them, then their appearances would not be an issue.  Although seeing the President on the social media is not necessarily a problem, the media’s excessive glorification is a problem that needs to be addressed by the American people.

The government has also done too much in an attempt to control school life. According to the Washington Post and Fox News, President Obama tried on several occasions to add hours to school days around the country. He proposed that adding three hours to a school day would increase learning in the classrooms. However, as students, we know that more hours would not increase our productivity.  Some of us have trouble merely staying awake for the seven hours that we go through on a regular basis. Attention spans would decrease, and grades would drop.

Freshman Jordan Worley said, “If Obama adds three more hours to the school day, how am I supposed to do extra-curricular work?  How am I supposed to get home?  How am I supposed to do all of the homework I have?  How am I supposed to do all of this [work] that colleges want on my resume?”

The presidential family’s attempt at control on school life doesn’t stop there, however. Look at the new choices in the lunch lines. This new, healthier choices are an attempt to reduce obesity in children. However, will it work? The ingredient list on some of the pre-packaged items is longer than some of the articles that we write, and that’s saying something. These new meals also have much more plastic wrapping than those served before: a negative impact on the environment. This attempt on school reform may end up having more negative aspects than positive aspects in the long run.

The final infringement on their allotted power is ObamaCare, the new healthcare system with his name stamped on the front. In theory, should his new system work? Yes. However, this new system advocates socialism.  By taking from the wealthy and giving to the poor, everything is being equally distributed.  As a democratic republic, we advocate individuals’ freedoms, not a mandated spreading of wealth among those who need assistance. We did build that, and we deserve to build our own future. Yes, there are those who require aid in one form or another, but it is not our duty to help them by donating to their future. ObamaCare hurts the small businesses and doctors who have worked for their success.

With the government’s takeover of the social media and the abandonment of their allotted boundaries, the country has paid for it.  With the media’s intervention and the American peoples’ willingness to accept whatever Chick-fil-a Comes their way, the evil was willingly let into our society. Like a greedy child, the government has taken more than they were given, and they were given a lot of leeway. The only option that we have now is to wait out this government until they are forced to leave in 2016.
