The Georgia Arbor Day Student Art Contest is a competition for grades K-12 to celebrate trees through art in any medium, according to TreesAtlanta.org. The theme this year was “Oh, the places you will grow!” Out of 360 entries, the winner of the art contest was freshman Hayoon Kong as announced on Feb. 14.
“My inspiration came from reading news articles about environmental issues. It made me think about how important nature and trees are. My experience in the contest was exciting, and I was very happy when I found out that I won,” Kong said.
