New field, same old team: Capital improvements for McIntosh Baseball field

Categories:

The Assistant Superintendent of Operations, Steve Cole, called for an update on a capital project pertaining to the new baseball field. For the last two months, the baseball field has been under construction.  After the renovations, the McIntosh marching band will take over the baseball team’s old practice field.

While the baseball field is under construction, the baseball team “will be utilizing the football field and Homeplate’s facility, a local baseball academy that also works with our players. Home Plate has been gracious enough to allow us to use their facilities so our guys can still get work while our new field/facility is under construction,” new head Coach Avery Roth said.

Since McIntosh’s founding, the former square lot has been the baseball field’s practice spot for the past four decades.

“It is sad to see that the baseball field is gone now. We had a great playing surface that the coaching staff took very good care of,” Roth said.

Looking back on the fond memories made on the baseball field, Coach Roth sees a bright future for the team.

“As the new head coach, I will make sure that the team will continue this program. We will create leaders on the field, in the classroom, and in the community. We are currently in our off-season strength and conditioning program to ensure our success on the field in the spring. Our guys have been working hard to get bigger and stronger, so that it will translate onto the playing field. Our expectations and standards are high for us this year. We are coming off of back-to-back region championships in 2023 and 2024, so we would like to do the same this year in 2025” Roth said.

As a new head coach, Roth is excited for the future and ready for the upcoming season.

“The new field will give us an opportunity to create a new era, new traditions, and new success. We, as a program, are excited about the new field and facility and cannot wait to see the finished project,” Roth said.
