Leap year occurs every four years that contains an additional day in the common year, making it 366 days a year. It keeps the 12 month calendar up with the earth’s rotation. Leap year adds a day to the month of February making it have 29 days. This year it falls on a Thursday.
Many people like to go out with their families enjoying this extra day of February.
“For leap year I am going out to dinner with my parents and getting dessert with a few of my friends,” said freshman Lola Gosser.
Some celebrate with traditions.
“My mom and I usually make homemade cheesecake and chicken mousse and watch movies,” said freshman Peighton Gillis.
Others make plans with their friends to hang out.
“I am going to ride around on my golf cart, hang out with my friends at the Avenue, and go to Chipotle,” said sophomore Hayden DeBerry.
