Science olympiad conquers regional competiton

Thirty-five members of the McIntosh Science Olympiad team traveled to Dalonega, Georgia, on February 2 to compete in Regionals at North Georgia College and State University. They placed 3rd overall out of 28 teams.

“There are 23 events and include subjects such as Thermodynamics, Forestry, Chemistry,  Astronomy and Physics among others,” said Sponsor Polly Carson.

“We did academic, test-taking type events like Designer Genes and Dynamic Planet, and then there were the building events like Boomilever and Gravity Veichile,” said Freshman Kathryn Flandermeyer.

The team qualified for and will attend the state championship, which will be held March 16 at Southern Polytech in Marietta.
