After exiting the school building at 3:15, we breathe a sigh of relief and are currently greeted with warmth and yellow-painted cars and golf carts that are covered in pollen.
The pollen count peaked Wednesday, April 10 at 8,024 particles per cubic meter of air according to the Atlanta Allergy and Asthma Clinic. My Fox Atlanta reports that this amount breaks the previous record of 6,013, set on April 12, 1999.
Junior Tatum Schindler stated, “The pollen has filled my life, nose, and phone with its yellow sadness.”
Tatum continued, “I had to spend over $30 dollars the past 2 weeks to buy Claritin and Zyrtec so I could breathe, and on top of that, I had to wash my golf art three times, and could hardly wear any color pant except for yellow.”
We can only hope for the “April showers to bring May flowers” and that we can get rid of the pollen soon.
