McIntosh Speech and Debate Team competed at the CarterKing Quest for the Dream tournament at Henry W. Grady High School in Atlanta on Nov. 19. McIntosh students competed in categories varying from public forum debate to humorous interpretation.

The tournament experienced a three-hour delay due to Tabroom, the online tabbing system that manages tournaments, crashing nationwide due to a 3000-person tournament in Chicago. McIntosh competitors sat in the school’s hallway for several hours as the host  attempted to run the tournament on paper.

Despite a delay, McIntosh found some success with senior Jackson Fuentes and junior Samuel Ellis making it to quarterfinals before dropping against the Lovett High School debate team, ending with a 3-1 record.

Jackson said, “While [the tournament was] tedious at times with the Tabroom crash, I am glad to have placed at such a large tournament.”
