Contestants pose in a line for Mrs. Owen to judge their sweaters

Tuesday, December 17, was the last day before exams, and to brighten everyone’s moods and get in the Christmas spirit, gifted literature kids had an ugly sweater contest judged by Mrs. Owen. The contestants were Hannah Wilde, Connor Whittle, Ron Johnson, John McCauley, and Jalen Knight.  As Mrs. Owen judged their festive, and slight hard-on-the-eye sweaters, her words to describe each one particularly stood out.

For Hannah Wilde and Jalen Knight, she commented that their sweaters were too pretty to be in an ugly contest. For Ron Johnson, she said, “Yours is just disturbing.” This cracked the entire class up. Then, choosing between Connor and John, she chose Connor since his was truly ugly, and John’s was just a little too feminine for him.

Once the winner was chosen, Connor posed in a heroic looking way for a picture, or as he said, “All right, let me look thoughtfully into the distance.”
