HOPE scholarship and Zell Miller change requirements

Living in Georgia has its benefits: with the appropriate requirements, students can receive the HOPE scholarship or the Zell Miller scholarship. However, these requirements have changed throughout the years. In order to combat confusion, the georgiacollege411.org website has released updated information about these scholarships.
To be eligible for HOPE, one must have a 3.0 GPA in his or her core curriculum classes such as English, Math, Science, Foreign Language, and Social Science. Another requirement that many people do not know about is the rigor requirements. Juniors must pass two courses from the list, and it increases by one year-to-year. Sophomores must pass three and freshman must pass four.
Qualifying for the Zell Miller is more difficult than HOPE. Students must maintain a 3.7 GPA in core classes, meet rigor requirements, and have a combined SAT score of 1200 (Critical Reading and Math) or a 26 ACT score. Also, the designated valedictorian or salutatorian automatically get the Zell Miller.
The HOPE scholarship pays for a portion of standard tuition. The Zell Miller pays for full standard tuition.
