On Oct. 20-23, the McIntosh girls basketball team had their tryouts in the McIntosh gymnasium.
Last year, the Lady Chiefs basketball team had an overall winning total of 7 out of 15 games.
Returning players are: Anna Dyachenko (senior), Hayden Packer (junior), Kelsie Alonso (senior), Mariel Bowman (Senior), Francie Elwell (senior), Emily Veerman (senior), Ellie Bednarowski (senior), Alida Scout (junior) and Alex Evans (senior).
The rookies include: Kenzi Padgett (freshman), Alexandria Evans (senior), Josie Schwartz (senior) and Claudia Meditz (senior).
“One of the goals [we have as a team] is to be in the ‘Elite Eight’ for state,” freshman Kenzi Padgett said.
“[My expectations for the season is] having a winning season [and] I would love to see this team make a run at state,” Coach Jason Arp said.
The girls basketball team has practice everyday after school and on Tuesdays and Thursdays they practice in the McIntosh gymnasium before school.
“[We must be] continuing to focus on our areas that we’re doing well and practice those, as well as watching film and seeing the areas that we need to improve during practice,” Arp said.
McIntosh sports event tickets can be purchased at McIntosh Athletics and games can be livestreamed on The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS)
Their first game this season was against Lagrange High School on Nov. 11 in the McIntosh gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. It was for the annual ‘McMadness’ in which all basketball teams; Varsity boys, Varsity girls and both JV participated in. The Lady Chiefs won 56-19.
The Lady Chiefs most recent game was Northgate High School on Dec. 12 in the McIntosh gymnasium where they won 60-35.
Their next game will be on Dec. 13, against Landmark Christian High School at 6:30 p.m.
