On Thursday, Sept. 11, the McIntosh varsity volleyball team played against both Woodward Academy and Midtown High School at McIntosh High School.

The Lady Chiefs won against Woodward 2-0 and also won 2-0 against Midtown.

Now the Lady Chiefs have a 15-6 win-loss streak, and rank first in the region and nineteenth in Georgia.

“Oh my gosh. [Beating Woodward] was so amazing. Woodward’s a really solid team. They have two really good D1 commits, and that was so cool,” Braelynn Ottolini (12) said.

The ladies beat Woodward, ranked 35 in the nation and 6 in Georgia, with 25-14 on the first set and 27-25 on the second set.

“Man, I’m so happy right now. I’m just shocked. I mean, we played so well. We’ve been practicing all week to really get this. Playing a team like [Woodward] is like insane, and winning against them is like amazing right now. We’re like on cloud nine right now. It’s so surreal,” Baylee Tanton (11) said.

Woodward Academy had a 17-3 win-loss streak after losing against the Lady Chiefs. The team also won against Midtown High School with a score of 25-21 in both sets. Midtown is ranked 28 in Georgia with a 17-2 win-loss streak after the game.

“Show up to practice, hustle for every ball. Stay on your feet, and just have a lot of energy,” Hastee Mehdipour (11) said.

The ladies say they’ve worked hard for their win, and believe that without team chemistry they would not have won.

“We just focus in practice and keep a good team chemistry because you really can’t do this if everyone was like playing for themselves,” Maya Conley (12) said.
