Athlete of the Week: Marina Serra

Freshman Marina Serra was awarded with Athlete of the Week for the week of October 15.

Serra has been running cross country for 2 years. As an eighth-grader at Booth, she ran for the JV team at McIntosh.

Serra is the third ranked freshman cross country runner in Georgia. Her PR of 19:14.46 is 2nd on the team at the school. She most hopes to improve her time as the season goes on.

She spends about 10 hours a week running with her team. Serra said, “Cross country has taught me that you have to work hard and put a lot of time into what you are working for.”

Serra has expressed that her favorite memory of the season so far is getting good results together, as a team. She said, “we all work really hard and make each other better.”

Outside of running cross country for the school, Serra plays soccer for AFC Lightning, local traveling soccer team.

The girls team will compete at state in Carrollton on November 3. Serra said, “I am hoping that this season we can win state and even go past that in competing
