Oct 17, 2017
Senior running back Bradley Ector was awarded with Athlete of the Week for the week of October 4. Ector said, “When I found out I was athlete of the week, I was shocked because I never thought I would [get it].”
Ector has played football for four years. Each week, Ector estimates that he spends around 15 to 20 hours playing football. Ector’s favorite memory this year was when the team was able to go 5-0 to start the season.
When it comes to this year’s football team, Ector enjoys the fact that they are not just a team, but a family. Ector said, “This team works as a family unit and works together well. Also, we don’t get hung up on who gets the credit because at the end of the day, we all won.”
Football has impacted Ector’s life throughout the past four years. Aside from the game itself, football has helped Ector grow as a person. Ector said, “Football is a huge part of my life. It’s what gets me through long days of school. It’s helped me grow as a person in learning how to work better with new people and helping me be a better leader.”
By the end of the season, Ector hopes to be able to run with more power in order to run over defenders easier.
This year is Ector’s final year playing for the Chiefs. He hopes to continue doing well this season. Ector said, “A successful season would be win the region, and make a deep playoff run.”
Ector has had a huge impact on the Chiefs’ success this season.
Athlete of the Week awards are given out weekly at the school. Athletes are selected based on performance during the season.
