I was very surprised to find out I was Athlete of the Week, but it is such an honor for me to be nominated by my coaches.

— Rebecca Muh

Freshman Rebecca Muh was awarded with Athlete of the Week for the week of September 4. Muh said, I was very surprised to find out I was Athlete of the Week, but it is such an honor for me to be nominated by my coaches.”

Muh began playing softball when she was seven years old, so she has played for about seven years. Muh typically plays pitcher, but sometimes she plays first base as well. She spends approximately two hours each day either practicing, playing, or training for softball, so throughout an entire week, she spends about 14 hours every week playing softball.

The past two club seasons, Muh has played for Atlanta Premier, but beginning this fall season, she will be playing with Team Georgia.

The memory that stands out the most to Muh is when she pitched a perfect game. A perfect game in softball is when no runner reaches first base. This is something that rarely ever happens in anybody’s pitching career, so the fact that Muh was able to do it is very memorable to her.

When it comes to high school softball, Muh enjoys playing with the girls on the team. Muh said, “I love that the McIntosh team is such a tight knit group and that all of our girls are so sweet and we all love to hangout with each other outside of softball.”

Softball has taught Muh a lot, and not just when it comes to the game, but about life too. The sport has impacted her life tremendously. She has put so much time into softball, but it is something that she loves and enjoys doing.

By the end of the season, Muh hopes to improve her hitting.Muh believes that a successful season consists of her team making it into the playoffs. Muh said, “The team has been working so hard all season and it would be our goal to make it far into the playoffs.”

Athlete of the Week awards are given out weekly at the school. Athletes are selected based on performances during the season.
