Girls varsity soccer advances to state semifinals

The girls varsity team took on LaGrange High School at home for the first round of state playoffs on Wed., April 27. They won 5-0 and advanced to the elite eight to play Gainesville High School on the road.

They traveled to take on the Red Elephants of Gainesville on Wed., May 4. In the first half, Junior Taylor Malasek and Senior Caroline Laux scored to have a 2-1 lead at halftime. To secure the lead with about 15 minutes left in the game, Senior Caroline Laux scored again. The final score of the game was 3-1.

The Lady Chiefs traveled to Milton, Ga., to take on Cambridge High School in the state quarterfinals on Sat., May 7. Last year, the Lady Chiefs lost in the quarterfinals to Greenbrier. This year, Senior Caroline Laux scored the only goal of the game with 20 minutes left in the first half. The Lady Chiefs won 1-0 to advance to the state semifinals on Tuesday, May 10 at home against Northgate High School.
