Varsity soccer teams take on Walton at home

Both varsity soccer teams scrimmaged the Walton Raiders at home on Friday, Feb. 5.

The Lady Chiefs kicked off at 5:30 p.m. At halftime neither team had scored. Coach Marcia Clark said that she was very pleased with the team at halftime since the Raiders are considered one of the best teams in 6A. At halftime, Senior Abby Ott said, “I am very proud of every single person right now. Everyone that stepped foot on that field put in 100 percent.” The Lady Chiefs lost 2-1.

Following the game, senior Taylor Butler said, “Everyone’s effort was really good. The result wasn’t what we wanted, but we still performed well. It was a great start to the season and we’re ready to get back into game speed.”

The Chiefs kicked off right after the girls game around 7:30 p.m. After 80 minutes of stoppage time, the final score ended in a tie, 0-0.

Both varsity teams will play at home against Woodland on Tuesday, February 9. Lady Chiefs will kickoff at 5:30 p.m. followed by the Chiefs at 7:30 p.m.
