Basketball finishes 3-1 on Friday, Jan. 8

The Starr’s Mill Panthers boys’ freshmen team and the boys’ JV team traveled to McIntosh on Friday, Jan. 8, to end the first week back from winter break.

The JV boys’ tipped off first at 5 p.m. With a tough game against county rivals, the Chiefs came out on top with a 37-25 win against the Panthers.

The freshmen boys’ tipped off right after the JV game at 6:30 p.m. It was a close game, but the Chiefs held on to the lead the last two minutes of the game to defeat the Panthers 37-31. Jacob Blair’s three pointers, Dane Kinamon’s rebounds, and Keenan Brown’s ball handling assisted the Chiefs in the win.

While the freshman and JV teams played at home, the varsity teams traveled to take on the Woodland Wolfpack. The Lady Chiefs tipped off at 7 p.m. and were defeated 42-25.  The Chiefs tipped off at 8:30 p.m. and led Woodland 20-10 at the end of the first quarter. Senior Will Washington was leading scorer at half when the Chiefs were up 33-17. The Chiefs defeated the Wolfpack 64-44 and improved their status to 13-2 overall and 8-0 in region games.
