Basketball teams start season strong

The Chiefs opened up the season with a 76-36 victory over the Whitewater Wildcats at home.

Basketball season officially started when the Chiefs hosted the Whitewater Wildcats for MacMadness on Thursday, Nov. 12.

The varsity girls’ game tipped off at 6 p.m. Although the varsity girls’ were trailing at half 18-20, they came out strong and dominated the third quarter scoring 19 points to Whitewater’s 6 points. The Lady Chiefs defeated the Wildcats (47-36).

The varsity boys’ players tipped off after the girls’ game. Several three-pointers by senior Braxton Shaw helped the team establish a first-quarter lead (18-12). Coming out of halftime strong (37-21), the Chiefs dominated the third quarter with a 62-30 lead going into the fourth. Senior Will Washington set up senior Chase Walter with alley oops that brought the gym to their feet. Chief defeated Wildcats (76-36).
