Students had been waiting for Battle of the Bubble basketball games since McIntosh and Starr’s Mill met during football season. The anticipation for these games was high, and the varsity teams did not disappoint in excitement.

The Lady Chiefs trailed during most of the game, but senior Cassidy Williams hit a three as the third quarter was winding down to give the Lady Chiefs momentum for the fourth. The fourth quarter was just as close as the rest of the game, and the Lady Panthers hit a three to give them a 29-27 lead. It seemed as if the Lady Chiefs would lose by two with less than 10 seconds left, but sophomore Delaney Rotolo hit a three as the seconds ticked down to give the Lady Chiefs a 29-30 win.

The Chiefs followed the varsity girls’ game. For a while the game seemed close, as the Panthers led the Chiefs 14-11 after the first quarter, but the Chiefs’ offense exploded in the second quarter and went into the half with a 29-41 lead. Junior Jordan Lyons led the team with 24 points and seven three pointers at the half. The Chiefs’ continued their dominance in the second half and won the game 55-69.
