Recently, the two groups of the top eight professional tennis players for the Barclays World Tour Finals were announced. According to the ATP World Tour website, Group A consists of Novak Djokovic, Tomas Berdych, Marin Cilic and Stan Wawrinka. Group B is made up by Andy Murray, Roger Federer, Milos Raonic and Kei Nishikori.

The world number one and winner of this year’s Wimbledon tournament, Novak Djokovic, is favored to win the tournament. Marin Cilic won the US Open this year, and Stan Wawrinka won the Australian Open early this year. French Open winner, Rafael Nadal, will miss the tournament due to his surgery on his appendix on November 3.

Some students and a teacher are rooting for Roger Federer to win the tournament. Senior Shohei Deguchi said, “I would cheer for Nishikori because he is Japanese, but I definitely want to see Federer win because [that would give me] reassurance that Federer is not done yet.” French teacher and tennis coach David Bobkowski said, “Roger is the veteran, and I would like to see the old guy win it.” Sophomore Andrew Obsitnik said, “I want Federer to win because he is a put together player, follows mechanics well, and is a respectful and mature player.” Sophomore Harry Immel said, “I would like for Roger Federer to win the Barclays World Tour Final because he is in nearly the twilight of his career, and it would be a great feat to add to his great career.”
