McIntosh excited for Barclays League kickoff

After the first week of Barclays Premier League play, there have been upsets and reminders  Some major premier league teams have already experienced their first upset while other smaller teams have already experienced their first win.  Manchester United suffered its first home loss in 42 years against Swansea City to open their season signaling possible trouble ahead.  Teams like Manchester City and Chelsea separated themselves from the rest of the winners this past week by beating their opposition by more than one goal.  Manchester City happened to defeat Newcastle United in a two to nil game that just as easily could have ended in a one to one draw, while Chelsea scored the most goals of the week topping out with a three to one win over one of the newly inducted teams into the league, Burnley.  These two teams will go into week two looking to extend their lead as the point standings are still obviously very tight.

Furthermore, other teams that grabbed a win this past week include Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Aston Villa and Hull City.  At McIntosh, students were just as excited as the players to talk about the opening week of the Premier League season.  Sophomore Matthias Von Zeier said, “I enjoyed the competitive first week, surprises, and watching my team Hull City win.”  Also, Sophomore Efrain Ortez was excited about opening week saying, “I’m ready to see my team (Swansea City) play on this year.”
