Atlanta forming a new MLS team
On Wednesday, Mayor Kasim Reed, Atlanta Falcons owner Aurther Blank, Frank Poe and commissioner Don Garber announced the new Major League Soccer team coming to Atlanta. The press conference was streamed on MLSsoccer.com at 5:00 pm on Wednesday. Freshman Cameron Stephens said, “I’m very excited about it, since the nearest MLS team is in Washington D.C. I think that if they that have a youth squad, like many MLS teams, it will be very good for McIntosh, as some of the varsity players may be asked to join the squad as well.” This team will be sharing the stadium with the Falcons. The team has not yet been named and the clubs inaugural season will begin in 2017.
