McIntosh cross country team carries waffle tradition to second state championship
The cross country team has had many victories this season, but the most important race is upon them. The state meet is the meet that qualifies and deides which team will win state championship rings. The whole team especially seniors Josh Mattingly and Taylor Huntley and the rest of the varsity are training and striving just to get the state championship rings that most of the team received last year when Brad Hort and Sydney Speir carried and led the team to victory. Josh said, “I really want to get that state championship because this is my first year at McIntosh and that would be awesome anyways.” Many runners remember the waffle tailgate from last year, and the whole team is looking forward to this year’s tailgate. Freshman Kevin Liow has never been to a waffle tailgate and said, “I can’t wait for state; its going to be so much fun.”
