Senior Emily Pauley has been chosen as the McIntosh Athlete of the Week for the week of October 15, 2012.
Pauley began playing t-ball at 3 and continued until she was 6. She has played softball for Intensity, Poison, GA Academy, Ga Impact, and GAC, in addition to McIntosh softball from her freshman through senior years. Emily said that balancing school and sports is definitely hard and that she doesn’t have too much of a life in season.
When asked who has influenced her career the most, Emily said, “Everyone who has ever doubted me. I hate being told I can’t do something.” Emily said that her coaches have been very beneficial to her career. She said, “My coaches show me how to do everything at 100 percent effort.”
From her successful career, Pauley has gotten athletic scholarship offers from colleges. They include Chattanooga State, East Carolina, and a few others.
Emily said that the season she played, GA Academy 14U, was one of her favorites. “I loved that team, and I received a Stephanie Phillips (similar to an MVP) award,” she said. Throughout her softball career, she has too many favorite memories to narrow it down to just one.
Emily plans to go to one of the universities offering her a softball scholarship. She said, “I want to major in either physical therapy or kinesiology.” Later on, she said that she wants to be an athletic trainer for a professional football team and live in California.
