My hot take on this week’s hashtags? This year’s New York Fashion Week wasn’t horrible. Critics complained about the lack of bigger brands and the influx of influencers or new celebrities. I, however, found that some of celebrities who attended actually ate down. The person who executed her looks perfectly for me was Jodie Woods, a young influencer who obviously knows the impact, knows the influence and she knows the vibes. And the girlies love the vibes.

Yesterday, there was a turning point in Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner’s public divorce. Appareantly, Turner is suing Jonas due to him allegedly not returning their kids to her in England by withholding their passports. Now, the kids have been on tour with the Jonas brothers for the last three months because of Turner’s filming schedule. This is overall a messy situation to be in but not for Turner. She was spotted stepping out to dinner with Taylor Swift, who also happened to have dated Jonas back in 2008. All I have to say about that is: girl boss.

Now I don’t know what’s going on in Texas but they need to take it down a notch. Darryl George, a Black Texas teen, was suspended from Barbers Hill High School because his locs “fell below his eyebrows and earlobes.” Massive side eye. When he returned to school two weeks later, he was suspended again. What’s really weird about this situation is that the suspension came within the same week the CROWN Act was enacted in Texas, which is a law that protects hair discrimination in school and the workplace.  While the law doesn’t say anything about length, it says protective styles, which include locs, twists and braids. George’s family explained how his locs go way deeper than just a hairstyle, having his father’s, stepdad’s and brother’s hair sewn into his locs. And this isn’t the school district’s first rodeo concerning hair discrimination. In 2020, a senior at the same high school was suspended from school and told he wouldn’t be able to walk the stage at graduation if he didn’t cut his locs. Let’s hope that this district just decides to actually follow the CROWN Act and don’t let these out-of-pocket punishments become a habit.

Now follow this: My favorite creator of the week is @thejoemustgoon. He is a man on Youtube and TikTok who, from his fire escape, asks patrons on the streets of New York if he could cook them one meal, what it would be. Of course, some people probably don’t answer him but the ones who do give him their meal make great choices. My favorite video of his is when someone answered wanting a grilled cheese with bacon and he took it to the next level with bacon jam on the sandwich and added tomato soup on the side. The meal was so good that the man said he had to save the other half for his girlfriend. W boyfriend and a W meal.
