Is “The Wiki” worth the hassle?

A few teachers around McIntosh have made the wikispace an integral part of their classes. The “Wiki” as it is most known to students is an excellent way for teachers to organize their class resources and provide students with an accessible calendar for upcoming assignments. Students also create their own personal Wiki to post different assignments that teachers can then read and grade from their own computers.

The idea of the Wiki sounds fantastic. However, the site is not the most user friendly. Junior Sydney Hahn said, “I can never seem to format my essays how I want them on the Wiki. Once I save my work, the website always shifts it around.”

Wikispace is notoriously known for not saving students’ work and adding or deleting unwanted spaces within the page. Senior Madi Boyles said “I love having this online portfolio where I can post all my work, but sometimes the stress it causes isn’t worth it.”

Overall, it seems like Wikispaces might be a beloved website by students if the technological glitches can be resolved.
