School surveys lack accurate data
Mar 21, 2016
Over the past few weeks, the school has sent out a variety of surveys to students through their emails. These surveys cover a range of topics, from upcoming elections to underage drinking.I’m sure that the school has good intentions in sending out these surveys, but there is a fundamental flaw: accuracy.
For example, the underage drinking survey is pointless. I understand why the school would want to know about topics like this, but do they honestly expect high school students to answer these surveys honestly? No student is going to openly admit that he or she illegally drinks, even if it is an “anonymous” survey. The other problem is that some students answer the questions in the craziest way possible. For example, a student might answer that he drinks every day. If enough kids answer like this, the school might actually believe that’s what really happens, which is an even bigger problem.
