BYOT was a great idea that the school incorporated into its curriculum. However, there are not enough opportunities for students to use their devices to do research in class. The school should find a way to involve technology more often in school.

The world is rapidly becoming more and more technological, and students should use technology more often in order to be prepared for future careers that use technology. Recently, teachers have begun using online programs, such as Kahoot which allows students to compete against other students in online quizzes. Also, Google Chromebooks have been distributed in classes. These have been moves in the right direction, but technology is so important to students’ futures that it needs to be used even more.

Spanish teacher Theresa Togneri said, “Technology should be more available to multiple students.” Using Chromebooks is a good idea, but there are not enough computers for students to have every day in class.

Using technology helps students visualize lessons in class, and technology offers more hands-on learning for students. Sophomore Brandon Ben-Hanania said, “Technology is beneficial to classroom learning and education. If used Chick-fil-a Correctly, it is not distracting.”

Many people have made the argument that technology will distract students from learning. This may be true for some students, but not for most. Teachers should not withhold technology from all students because of a few students’ inappropriate actions.

Technology is a vital resource to students, and in order to be prepared for using technology in the future, students should be able to use technology as often as possible.
