Sports supported unequally
Jan 30, 2015
McIntosh students are known for their support of football and basketball teams. Attendance is high to every game every week. However, other sports, such as tennis and lacrosse, do not have much student support, which is unfair to those athletes.
Starr’s Mill has support for their tennis teams during matches, but McIntosh generally has no student attendance at their matches. All sports are important because all athletes work hard to meet their goals.
Junior Andrea Swanson said, “It would be cool to have students come and support matches because that’s something that our team has never seen, and we shouldn’t be used to not gaining support from a student body of 1,600 students.”
Students should be supportive of the teams that make it to state annually, even if they aren’t the most popular sports to watch.
